Summer is here!

Summer is here, so I can start blogging more again. However, I have a project I want to work on this summer, so I'm going to be mostly laying off the skeptical/atheist stuff (on this site, anyway. I'll still be commenting elsewhere.) What project, you ask? This thing. I'd appreciate some input on it, if possible. Yes, I know it's monolithic, but it would be nice.

So to summarise (plot wise), the central character is a grunt, who ends up trying to work out the hidden/deeper politics governing the conflicts in his/her world, spurred on by a personal loss. Sounds like a good foundation.

Do you think you will go in the Tolkien direction (maps/languages/histories in great detail), or more towards in-depth character focus?

Personally, I do like a good map as a visual aide whilst reading this kind of thing.

What is GDL?

If I decide to use that plot for the book, yes, pretty much.

I probably will have maps, though I never reference them as a reader. As an author, though, should be useful for keeping continuity. I'm building up a massive setting for this to put multiple stories in, but each story should have some character focus.

GDL is Game Development Limbo, where the book was being developed back when it was intended as an RPG. Bronze Dog runs it.
